Now I’m sure you’ve heard it from many bloggers before me about how amazing Pinterest is for driving traffic to their sites. And that because it is! Pinterest alone accounts for almost 95% of the traffic coming to this site. And as someone who has only had this blog for a month. Having 6,800 pair of eyes read these pages thanks to Pinterest alone is something to be excited about! So if you’re wanting to jump on the Pinterest train. Or just want to know what you can do to improve your results. Then here are the three types of Pinterest Boards every blogger needs.
Now if you’re completely new to Pinterest. Then I would suggest reading this post on the basics of Pinterest. And it might also help to check out my Pinterest page here as I go through these three board types. So let’s start shall we?
BRAND BOARDS
Now this is the board that is dedicated to you and your brand. This is the place where you pin all your best content. And only your content. This is the board that should be one of the first things people see when visiting your Pinterest page. Mine is even used as my cover photo!
The is the board that helps people navigate to your site and visit your blog. Naturally though, this board will get pretty large. So to make it easier for people to navigate, you can create specific content boards for each of your categories. Or you can create sections within your board to house your different category content.
TOPIC BOARDS
Now if you’re serious about blogging. Then you’ll know that you need to nail your niche. And once that’s nailed, this part of creating boards will be a whole lot simpler. As you can create the boards that are relevant to your niche.
For example if your niche is blogging tips and advice, Then your topic boards could include:
- Affiliate Marketing
- Free blogging resources
- SEO tips
I find it helps to have around 4-5 topic boards that are related to each of your blogging categories. You might have more from some and less for others. But try to have at least a couple of each.
Now some people think that you should only stick to topics that are relevant to your brand or niche. And that all personal topics are saved to your private boards. Or on a personal account. Personally, I think it’s nice to share some of your personality. Although I make sure the majority of my boards are brand and niche focused. And that the boards appear at the top of my account.
GROUP BOARDS
Now when I started to use Group Boards I found that not only did my engagement increase, but my views skyrocketed!
So the big difference between a group board and your other boards is that you can only pin to your boards. But group boards allow multiple contributors to pin to them. With the aim of people promoting each other’s content. And having more eyes on your content. Which helps with engagement and views!
Now there will be rules within the group boards. Usually it’s 1-for-1. So for every pin you pin into the group. You pin someone’s else’s from the board into one of your boards.
So you need to make sure the group boards you’re a member of are relevant to your niche. And the best bit is that you can join as many group boards as you want in your niche!
So these are the three types of Pinterest boards every blogger needs. Let me know in the comments below what your Pinterest username is as I’m always looking for new people to follow!
